Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating is what makes water bead and roll off your garment without saturating it. Our garments are coated at the factory, however, you will need to reapply DWR over the life of your garment to maintain performance.

WASH gives your gear a technical refresh, re-proofing any GORE-TEX® and re-puffing any down, so items perform at their peak from season to season.
Each material and fabric has its own best practices for washing. Use our step-by-step instructions to keep your gear performing at it’s best. Choose a product type to view wash instructions.
Clean gear performs better and lasts longer. Dirt, sweat, and oils break down technical materials over time, so regular washing removes them before they cause damage. For waterproof gear, washing restores breathability and reactivates the DWR (Durable water repellent) finish. Well-maintained gear needs fewer repairs and stays out of landfill longer. Small acts of care support a commitment to leave it better.
To keep your gear performing at its best, it needs to be washed in a machine. Proper machine washing and drying ensures the entire garment is cleaned evenly, with all dirt, soap, and residue fully rinsed out—something that’s difficult to achieve by hand. It also allows heat drying to reactivate water‑repellent finishes and prevent clumping in down insulation. If you don’t have access to a washing machine, we recommend visiting a ReBIRD™ service centre to make sure your GORE-TEX® and Down gear is cleaned and cared for correctly.
Bring your GORE-TEX® or down-insulated gear to any ReBIRD™ Service Centre and our team will handle the wash for you. We use the right products and techniques for your specific gear.
