Men’s Puffer Jackets at Arc’teryx

A puffer jacket is a quilted layer you can wear alone on a cold morning or under a shell when the weather turns. Our men’s range centres on two families. Cerium is filled with 850 to 1000 fill goose down for low weight and high loft, and Atom is filled with Coreloft that stays warm even when it is wet. Both come as hoodies, jackets and vests.

How warm are the Cerium, Atom and Atom SV men’s puffer jackets?

Warmth steps up through the range. The Cerium Jacket and Atom Hoody are the puffer jackets for cold starts and windy summits, while the Proton Hoody pairs Coreloft Compact with air-permeable Fortius Air fabric for climbing and other high-output days. For the coldest days, the Atom SV Hoody is the warmest Atom hoody and the Cerium SV Hoody is our warmest, most durable Cerium, both with a StormHood. Try your usual hiking fleece underneath to check the fit.

Which lightweight men’s puffer jackets pack small?

The Cerium SL Hoody is an ultralight 1000 fill puffer jacket with a 10D Pertex Quantum outer and a sewn-through build that saves weight, and it comes with a stuff sack for the pack. The Atom SL Hoody keeps its Coreloft Stretch in the body only, so the sleeves and hood stay slim. Take the Cerium SL for rest stops and the Atom SL for efforts that keep you moving. For more Coreloft-filled styles, browse our synthetic insulated jackets.

Which hooded and long men’s puffer jackets suit changeable weather?

A hood and a longer hem decide how a puffer jacket handles weather. The Cerium Hoody has a helmet-compatible StormHood and the Atom Hoody a low-profile StormHood with a mini brim, and both carry a water-repellent finish that copes with a sudden shower. For more length, the Therme Down Parka runs long with a two-way front zip, and the Monitor Down Coat has a fishtail-inspired silhouette with rear vents. Men’s Puffer Jacket FAQs

Is a puffy jacket different from a puffer jacket?

No, puffy and puffer are two names for the same quilted layer. Cerium and Atom hoodies appear in both our puffer range and our insulated jackets, so you can browse either way and compare fits, hoods and weights side by side.

Is there a black puffer jacket for men?

Yes, several puffer jackets come in Black. The Cerium Hoody, Atom Hoody and Thorium Hoody all do, and the Cerium Hoody and Atom Hoody add Black Sapphire as a second dark colour. For a more city-led cut, the Conduit Down Jacket has a rounded, shorter silhouette and the Monitor Down Coat a fishtail-inspired one, both in Black.

How do Arc’teryx puffer jackets fit and hold up?

Each puffer jacket states its fit. The Atom Hoody and Cerium Hoody are fitted and trim, while the Atom SV Hoody is a regular fit with room for layers. For durability, the Cerium SV Hoody has a Pertex Diamond Fuse outer whose diamond-filament build adds toughness without weight, and the Thorium Jacket an abrasion-resistant Arato 30 outer. Our layering guide shows how each piece stacks.

Is a puffer vest worth it for men?

A vest keeps your core warm and leaves your arms free, which helps on high-output days when a full puffer jacket’s sleeves overheat. The Cerium Vest includes a stuff sack, and the Atom Vest uses recycled stretch Coreloft with Octa Fleece side panels for ventilation. Wear either alone on mild days or under a hiking jacket when it cools.
